Show Format & Flow
This two-act evening is designed to hold a room from start to finish, offering a cohesive musical journey that blends introspection, lyrical honesty, and dynamic performance.
+ Alex Mundy (solo) opens the night with an intimate, piano-led set of nostalgic roots-pop and lyrical storytelling.
+ Friday’s Child (duo) follows with an Americana set featuring layered instrumentation—vocals, guitar, dobro, and pedal steel—that builds on the emotional foundation of the evening and carries it through to a resonant close.

Together, this pairing creates a memorable night of storytelling that encourages audience engagement and retention, offering venues a full, intentional experience rather than a standard multi-act lineup. This show works especially well for listening rooms, intimate bars, theatres, and attentive club audiences, creating a shared experience that holds attention from the first song to the last.

Typical total runtime: 90–120 minutes, flexible to suit venue needs.
Show Note.
When appropriate, the artists may support one another on select songs throughout the night—adding keys, guitar, pedal steel, or backing vocals to enhance the overall arc of the show (see Alex Mundy Tech Rider). These moments are lightly integrated and optional, and do not change the core format or technical requirements.

Promotional & Marketing Support
Both acts are highly motivated, professional, and hands-on with promotion, working closely with venues to support each show.
Promotional support may include:

-
Coordinated social media promotion across both projects
-
Submissions to local event listings, Facebook groups and tourism calendars
-
Custom show poster
-
Custom short-form video content for venue social media
-
Coordination of customized ad for local radio
-
Optional day-of outreach (e.g., busking)
Promotion efforts are collaborative and tailored to each venue and community. Each venue will receive a customized promotional plan upon booking.

What Makes this Bill Special
-
Shared audience values: authenticity, poetry, emotional connection
-
Complementary energetic arc: introspective moving towards a more expansive sound
-
Unified aesthetic: Cohesive without redundancy
-
Intentional curation: a “story night” rather than a generic multi-act show
-
Collaborative spirit: Collaboration is a core value of this bill. Friday’s Child has previously partnered with visual artist Drillo, integrating his work into the stage design for their full-house show at The Broom Factory (Kingston). When appropriate, the artists are enthusiastic about working with local visual talent to enhance the atmosphere of the night, creating an immersive, multimedia experience without complicating production.
This pairing is designed to feel thoughtful and complete, making it easy for venues to present as a special evening or as the opening to a larger act.

Artist Bios
Alex Mundy
A roots-pop artist with a voice that has been hailed as “raw and powerful,” Alex Mundy has been writing and performing music for almost a decade. In 2019, she was selected as one of the winners of the YGK Emerging Musician Competition in Kingston, Ontario. In the same year, her single, “Oleander” was selected as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition out of Nashville, Tennessee, where she was judged by the likes of Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and Tom Waits. Suffice it to say, Alex Mundy is a powerhouse writer with a story to tell.
In her own words: “When I have something to say, music is my megaphone. The writing process is my therapy. Everything makes more sense once I’ve written it into a song.” Alex is documenting these stories through her debut album, set to be released later in 2026. Her first single from the album, "Where We Are," was recently featured on WPBS, and the accompanying music video was featured in the Kingston Canadian Film Festival. With songs that exude a powerful nostalgic quality, indelible melodies, and lyrical honesty, Alex Mundy is ready to share her stories on a bigger stage.

Friday's Child
Friday’s Child is the potent musical union of singer-songwriter Krista Van Slingerland and multi-instrumentalist/engineer Evan Massey. The pair have been writing and performing together for seven years across multiple projects. Their bluegrass tune “Wildflower” was licensed for the feature film 115, directed by Dave Macon, in 2024.
In 2025, amidst their divorce, Krista and Evan recorded their first full-length album as Friday’s Child, raising $7,000 in 30 days via Kickstarter to fund the project. The duo’s debut single, “Fault Lines,” received Canadian radio airplay, and their appearance on the Kingston Live podcast (Episode #81)—exploring the origins of the project—became the show’s most-listened-to episode of 2025 on Spotify.
Friday’s Child delivers an intimate and powerful live Americana experience that hushes a room and connects deeply with audiences who value authenticity, lyrical depth, and musicianship. Building on the momentum of their full house show at The Broom Factory in Kingston, Ontario (July 2025), the duo is set to bring the music of Broken Home (Vol. 1) – debuting March 15 – to Southeastern Ontario this spring and summer.
